Meaning, maybe he just felt guilty, because he left her and she was murdered?

I don’t believe it. It’s probably at best an ambiguous statement, a statement about self defense, or no statement regarding culpability at all.

That’s why they didn’t give the Post the statements and pictures of the notebook.
