Why wouldn’t the FBI answer the question of “were there undercover agents at the Jan. 6 riots?” and “did any FBI agents participate in violent activities against the police?”? Not that hard to answer. Just a yes or no answer, no vague and weaselly answers.

They always give the same cop out answer, “we cant comment about an ongoing investigation.”

I’m going to play Devil’s Advocate on that question.

Law enforcement and Intelligence agencies spend time energy and dollars to train their agents. For their safety and to protect the effectiveness of the agencies, the standard practice is to not “out” them.

If—even just once—they deny that someone is an agent, then any time they do not deny, they are essentially confirming.

Given the number of hours of surveillance video (of the 1/6 Capitol event) that has been released, confirming or denying would be a security breach.

Yeah, it’s a convenient excuse for them, but it has the virtue of being exactly what they need to do/say.
