people NEVER know the successes of such agency’s, only the embarrassments.
12 Dec 2016: Politico: How Democrats became CIA defenders
By CORY BENNETT
Democrats, who have spent years criticizing the spy agency’s role in imprisoning and interrogating terrorist suspects during the George W. Bush administration, are now taking the CIA’s side against an incoming president who refuses to take regular intelligence briefings. And they’re getting backup from some top Republican lawmakers, who are joining their calls for a congressional investigation into the CIA’s reported conclusion that Russian hackers deliberately tried to sway the presidential election to Trump.
“When you have someone like Trump who is so contemptuous of the intelligence community … [who] is so contemptuous of the whole enterprise, I think you will have Democrats coming to the defense of the CIA,” said Greg Thielmann, a former Senate Intelligence Committee aide. “Whereas before the Democrats were kind of automatically — on a lot of issues — in the role of critic of the intelligence community.”...
But over the weekend, even the CIA’s most vocal Democratic critics on Capitol Hill sprang to the intelligence community’s defense after Trump and his transition team disparaged news reports about the agency’s secret assessment on Russian election hacking...
The White House also defended the CIA’s apparent conclusions...
Among other benefits, widespread trust in the CIA would help Democrats gather support for a congressional probe into the election hacks that may have helped tilt the election against Hillary Clinton. They also want to build pressure on Trump to retaliate against Russia for its alleged digital meddling in the election...
Beyond any political expediency in upholding the CIA’s integrity, intelligence experts say Trump has simply forced Democrats to become champions of the intelligence wing...

20 Aug 2020: World Socialist Web Site: The CIA Democrats in the 2020 elections
by Patrick Martin
In the course of the 2018 elections, a large group of former military-intelligence operatives entered capitalist politics as candidates seeking the Democratic Party nomination in 50 congressional seats—nearly half the seats where the Democrats were targeting Republican incumbents or open seats created by Republican retirements.
Some 30 of these candidates won primary contests and became the Democratic candidates in the November 2018 election, and 11 of them won the general election, more than one-quarter of the 40 previously Republican-held seats captured by the Democrats as they took control of the House of Representatives.
In 2020, the intervention of the CIA Democrats continues on what is arguably an equally significant scale: besides the reelection campaigns of the 11 representatives who won seats in the House in 2018, half a dozen of those who lost 2018 races are running again in 2020. Some of these are running for House seats again, while others have been promoted by the Democratic Party leadership and are running for the US Senate. And an entire new crop of military-intelligence operatives is being brought forward, some running for Republican seats targeted by the Democratic leadership as possible takeovers, others in seats not currently considered competitive...

“people NEVER know the successes of such agency’s, only the embarrassments.”
Ahhh, the old “if we -only- knew what they did for us, those silent heroes”. Those people out there working for the legacy of the founding fathers. /s
CIA has failed, and has damaged the reputation of America twenty times any utility they may have ever had. They have a history of un-American activity that cannot be overcome with a few successes. (Including coordinating the assassination of a US President) JFK wanted them smashed, and 4 weeks after JFK was murdered, Truman published his op-ed.
“INDEPENDENCE, MO., Dec. 21—I think it has become necessary to take another look at the purpose and operations of our Central Intelligence Agency—CIA. At least, I would like to submit here the original reason why I thought it necessary to organize this Agency during my Administration, what I expected it to do and how it was to operate as an arm of the President........................
.............We have grown up as a nation, respected for our free institutions and for our ability to maintain a free and open society. There is something about the way the CIA has been functioning that is casting a shadow over our historic position and I feel that we need to correct it.”
Even more true today and we need to add the FBI to that list.
say you and some dumbass paper.
And I suspect we know a small percentage of the would-be embarrassments as well. The bottom line, is that most of the secrecy is because they are doing things the American people would not approve of.
Their 2016 operation to frame Trump as a Russian asset is exhibit A.
Their role in the creation of ISIS is exhibit B.
Their use of the Benghazi annex to ship weapons to ISIS via Turkey is exhibit C.
Their sedition of Trump during his presidency is exhibit D.
They should be disbanded.
No, says Harry Truman, published in the Washington Post, 4 weeks after JFK was murdered.
That means when JFK was murdered, Harry Truman ran straight to his desk to urgently warn America that the CIA was a menace and needed reform. And that about says it all.
He knew exactly what had occurred.
Of course, by it’s very nature. However, the “bad” stuff is hardly in the category of “embarrassments.”
This explains how Faucci got control over military funds for grants. Dept of Defense was pissed...
AMEN!
and how would these folks get a clue?
but off they run with a story.
No! /s
and how would these folks get a clue? but off they run with a story.

#31 -> #28 -> #21 -> #20 Fort Detrick example.
How would Senator's get a clue about what the CIA was doing at Fort Detrick?
According to you, what they did at Fort Detrick was an "embarrassment." #21 Yeah. Brilliant!
You go ahead and keep believing the CIA is an honorable government agency who is only occasionally caught involved in "embarrassing" things and I'll go ahead and eat dinner with a nice glass of wine knowing full well the CIA is a rogue agency that will do whatever it wants, to whomever it wants, including US citizens within our own country.

The argument against elimination will be that our enemies will seize the opportunity to attack.
And a counter argument for eliminatation is that these morally bankrupted institutions are the enemy to a free people and Constitutional Republic..
“All your CIA are belong to us.”
we have a rogue gov!
You are equally as right. It will never happen if the Republic doesn’t take the risk. Beyond anything useful now.
Are you questioning the patriotism of cofer black, CTC director? (And burisma board member with hunter.)
Oh-never mind. Ok babe? This makes me sad.
This doesn’t surprise me one iota.
WOW
Thank you for sharing the links.
Very interesting.
