Agree, The West is forcing Moldova to choose Skyrocketing gas and energy prices with Woke and EnviroNazi rules or Russian Policy and affordable energy for all.
Moldova is entirely their own doing.
Three months ago they celebrated new contract which gave Moldova market pricing rather than fix-price long-term deal. It was said that Merkel pressured Putin. Net result: they are paying at least 3x more than before the great new deal.
As for the West — I don’t think they can afford subsidizing other countries now. Printing another 30-40 millions just to give Moldova a long-term loan suddenly is not a good option.
I think in a way this is a test case: if the West does not support them, then whom they are going to support? And how would the local elites react when they realize that the flow of free money dried up?
Let’s see what happens.
