Here is the late info on the Hunga Tonga volcano
Lordy..
Goodness gracious!!
I feel sorry for them there.
Excuse me..a good docu about Krakatoa..
And here is the coral head that took it out:
I don’t know if it is related but me splitting wood about this date in 1985 was tough.
Oil line from the underground tank froze and cracked.
3AM and keeping the fireplace going. The furnace just putting out cold air. That got turned off right quick.
I was young and in good shape. -24 degrees in TN.
I lasted about 20min at a time.

Tambora was crazy too, in the way it affected weather around the globe. Those must have been a tough couple of years. (I think you meant Krakatoa?)
Absolutely. I find volcanoes absolutely stunning in the way they can reduce humans to...well the ants that we are in comparison to their power.
But I feel sorrow for those caught in the path. When I was a teenager, my dad got orders to return to the states from the Philippines, and he and my mom took our family on a tour of Europe on the way home (courtesy of Military Air Command space available seats for all eight of us in 1971!)
We went to Pompeii, and when I saw those castings they did from the cavities created of people caught in the ash whose bodies disappeared over time leaving only the holes where they lay, it really brought it home to me.
Good link, thanks for posting.

Winter 86 was when I was 32, and went to entirely wood heat, and did so for 4 winters. I was already in shape, doing lots of livestock chores, so cutting and splitting wood was just part of the routine.
That was in NW IL, so cold temps were also routine. Keeping water fountains thawed out in sub-zero for the hogs was probably the most dreaded chore.
I’m interested to see how it deranges weather patterns in the long term.

The keeper survived. His family did not.
Prayers for the Tongan people. The soldiers I deployed with in Kuwait were outstanding.
That was/is a GREAT report link you posted.
Everybody should watch it.
Tip o the hat to you!
And I havent heard one GD word whether Biden sent any aid at all.
I would have had at least something go there, even a sub since they can produce some fresh water for those people to drink.
The worthless bastard.
The winter of 75-76.
Never got above zero for a good long while. 30 below was the norm for each morning.
I froze my face that year scaling logs on top of a hill/field. Left the pickup run and when we got in it was always blowing cold air.
Can not shave to this day. Break out into hive like rash if I do.
