At what point is “allegedly” not appropriate. The man was killed while holding hostages, do they deny that facts, if captured alive would a trial found him not guilty?
It’s because reporters don’t really know the whole true story. The reporters don’t take the “face value” of any statement. ( Well at least they shouldn’t)....by the same token, we shouldn’t take their reporting at face value. They are usually twice removed ( at best) from any event. Add to that , ignorance, bias, ambition, lying. Why they are given any credence, or respect, is a miracle.
