Exclusive — Kari Lake Plans to Circumvent Feds on Border Policy Through an Interstate Compact
Breitbart ^ | 16 January 2022 | JORDAN DIXON-HAMILTON

Posted on 01/16/2022 6:16:06 AM PST by Magnatron

Kari Lake, a candidate for Governor in Arizona, told Breitbart News Saturday that she plans to enter into an interstate compact with other states to circumvent federal immigration and border policies.

Before politics, Lake covered the state of Arizona as an anchorwoman for 27 years. Now, Lake is taking on the political battle in Arizona because the state needs a governor “who will stand for the people and not the special interest.”

Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle highlighted Lake’s 11-page immigration policy and asked her to expound upon her plans to secure America’s southern border.

Lake called out the “invasion” at our southern border and criticized President Joe Biden for handing over our borders to “narco-terrorists.”

“We have an invasion going on here in Arizona. We’ve got fentanyl pouring in, coming from China through Mexico into Arizona and into the rest of this country,” Lake said. “We have human smuggling, we have child smuggling, and Joe Biden has handed our borders off to the narco terrorists, and we’re not going to sit here and take it anymore.”

“So we will take back our constitutional right to secure the border ourselves. Article One, section 10 lays it all out. And we’re not going to ask permission from Joe Biden to do so. We’re going to finish President Trump’s wall, and we’re going to use the materials that the federal government abandoned at our border to do so. And we are going to empower our Arizona National Guard to start making arrests of these people coming over right now.”

She’s got cojones…

From the corrupt, idiotic Wikipedia:

She falsely claimed that Trump won Arizona in the 2020 election.

She stated that, as governor, she would work to have the drug and ivermectin produced in the state to "make it easier for us to get these lifesaving drugs." Despite numerous studies, neither substance has been shown to be effective in treating or curing COVID-19.

She falsely claimed president Joe Biden did not receive 81 million votes.

She endorsed a false assertion by Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington that Democrats use mail-in ballots to rig elections.

She has advocated imprisoning Arizona secretary of state Katie Hobbs on baseless and unspecified allegations of criminality related to the 2020 election.

The liars will work overtime to defeat her…

When the blue states sought to change their voting in presidential elections the “interstate compact” idea was said to be unconstitutional. Not sure how this is better.

A chain is as strong as it’s weakest link. What does it say about NM. & Ca?

Would the ‘compact’ include those already in the other states more inland? Those illegals in jail? What to do with them? I say let them go back to the old country and show which states will accept them when they will ‘surely’ return.

She’s ‘only’ 52 years old. Az. Gov. a stepping stone to what? There never has been a female POTUS. Sarah took a pass.

Agree. Most Republicans seem to think the border situation is some Alex Jones conspiracy theory. She obviously does not agree with them.

We might not be legally able to enforce our borders but we COULD start arresting people for trespassing and minor crimes and PUTTING THEM IN JAIL. And I suspect the court is now conservative enough to rule it is legal for STATE police to arrest people here illegally. And if they cross state land? Make it criminal. Notify anyone employing them they are here illegally and must be fired.

We probably cannot build and enforce a border wall without federal courts interfering but we can make it hot for them to stay in Arizona!

"What does it say about NM. & Ca?"

NM border mileage is tiny, CA not hugely larger. The keys are Arizona and Texas, as they comprise most of the border.

“When the blue states sought to change their voting in presidential elections the “interstate compact” idea was said to be unconstitutional.”

Ohio belongs to 33 interstate compacts, including the Driver License Compact. If interstate compacts are in and of themselves unconstitutional we’re due for a lot of change and turmoil.

Texas is currently building a wall. The trick is to build on private property and Texas property. They've completed number of miles so far with the same bollard design. I have yet to read that the Feds are suing Texas.

She’d have to run it through Congress.

The difference is a blue state compact (work around) would be made to break the law, not enforce the law.

I’m not going to check each individually, but on the face of it, it looks like they were.

When the blue states sought to change their voting in presidential elections, the “interstate compact” idea may have been said to be unconstitutional in that particular case due to lack of Congressional approval and maybe other reasons, but that does not mean the “interstate compact” idea in and of itself is unconstitutional.
