The Chinese were certainly buying up major parts of Queens. They'd even come knocking on doors of my former Queens co-op apartment, asking if any apartments were for sale there. Any apartment that did come up for sale, there were half a dozen Chinese buyers vying for it; NO other people of any other other persuasion. It was peculiar to see some of these people, who were not professionals like doctors or lawyers, who were dressed in Walmart-wear, offering cash for $250K apartments.It was said that China used local Chinese churches to bankroll these bums behind the scenes.
