(CNN) Members of the far right are already agitating to launch impeachment proceedings against resident Joe Biden if the GOP is in power in Congress next year. Some leading Republicans want to spotlight former President Donald Trump's false claims of voter fraud. And key House and Senate Republicans are vowing to probe the security failures surrounding last year's January 6 attack on the US Capitol -- and turn the attention to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
With Republicans on the cusp of taking back the House and Senate, the GOP is plotting an onslaught of investigations into the Biden administration and promising to make the final two years of Biden's first term in office as painful as possible for Democrats in the run-up to 2024. Those headaches could come in the form of subpoenas, the possible creation of select committees and high-profile hearings on issues ranging from the origins of the coronavirus pandemic to hearing from the resident's son, Hunter. Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee, said he fully anticipates that Hunter Biden will testify before the committee if Republicans are in charge.
"We have a lot of questions about where he gets his money, from his artwork, and from his consulting deals," Comer told CNN. The probes won't stop there.
Rep. Rodney Davis of Illinois, the top Republican on the House Administration Committee, pledged to subpoena communications from the sergeant-at-arms about security decisions in the lead-up to the deadly Capitol riot should he be in charge of the panel next year.
"We'll find out what went wrong leading up to January 6 with security posture, and most importantly, we'll exercise oversight responsibility to make sure that we are in a better position," Davis told CNN.

It is indeed a target rich environment. You are prescient and accurate in the statement. Every time I read/hear it I think back to a conversation I had 42 years ago. I was in a rural county far removed from Oklahoma City. One of my former legal interns was then the elected District Attorney of that county.
Meeting him in the courtroom, I asked, “how’s crime in McCurtain County?”
He said, “It’s like going quail hunting and walking through a field. Then you unexpectedly kick up a covey and all take flight. It is an instant cloud blocking the sunlight. You never know which to shoot first. Crime is plentiful. It is all around us.”
When the Congress changes party, there will be so many targets from which to choose. I hope there will be no shortage of ammunition expended.

President Biden released tax forms on Monday showing that he and his wife, Jill Biden, earned just over $600,000 in 2020.
The Bidens paid an effective federal income tax rate of 25.9 percent after donating about 5 percent of their income to charity, the documents showed. Their total federal income tax bill was just over $157,000. For 2019, the Bidens had an adjusted gross income of $985,000 and paid federal income taxes of nearly $288,000.
Both the presidential and the vice-presidential households appear to fall safely in the top 1 percent of American income earners, based on statistics from the Internal Revenue Service. And both would face tax increases this year if Mr. Biden succeeds in pushing Congress to raise a variety of taxes on high earners, as he is proposing to help fund nearly $2 trillion in new spending and incentives meant to strengthen education, child care, paid leave and other social programs.
Much of the Bidens’ income came from pensions, including Mr. Biden’s government pension from his years as a senator and vice president. That disbursement will pause now that Mr. Biden has re-entered the government, White House officials say.
Jill Biden received nearly $300,000 in income — including income from business profits — from an S corporation controlled by the Bidens, which received money in 2020 from two publishing houses, Simon & Schuster and Flatiron.
An S corporation is a small business designation that allows business income, credits and deductions to pass through to shareholders.

This is an attempt to energize an otherwise dejected democrat base to come out and vote. I predict the opposite affect. It gives republican voters even more incentive to vote.

Repub calling on the US Education Department to launch an investigation into the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, citing concerns about accusations of undisclosed donations from Chinese sources..........“extreme concern” about potential foreign influence over American colleges and universities and the impact it could have on elections.
“The widespread threat of foreign influence in American universities is well-known to Congress. These threats are deeply worrisome on their own — and even more so when they risk impacting the integrity of America’s elections.”
A complaint filed with the Education Department by The National Legal and Policy Center, a conservative group, alleging that the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, named after presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, failed to disclose millions in foreign donations, including some from anonymous donors.
The University of Pennsylvania has denied any wrongdoing, telling The Daily Pennsylvanian the accusations are “completely untrue.”
The Higher Education Act requires institutions to disclose gifts and donations from foreign sources valued at $250,0000 or more.
It is unclear whether the Department of Education has the name of the donor matching the number, but whether it does or not, the law requires the disclosure of donors’ names..
The Education Department launched investigations into two other Ivy League schools earlier this year — Harvard and Yale — following similar accusations that they failed to report billions of dollars in foreign funding.
There has been a spotlight on preventing foreign interference in elections, he believes it’s possible adversaries could be using the donations to U.S. institutions to influence American politics.
The possibility that China may be using ‘anonymous donations’ in order to impact presidential politics should alarm all Americans, regardless of political affiliation.
