Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has used his ministerial powers to personally cancel Novak Djokovic's visa, after the world number one men's tennis player won a court case earlier this week against the cancellation of his entry visa.

However, there is no time limit on the minister’s power to cancel the visa and can be done whenever he decides there is enough evidence that there is a ground to do so and if it’s in the public interest.
***Judge Anthony Kelly noted if Djokovic was to be deported through an order from Mr Hawke, he could be forbidden from returning to Australia for three years, though there would be discretion to allow him back in for next year’s Open.
***He told the court in no uncertain terms that if the government does consider this motion, ***he must be given ample notice to prepare for future proceedings.
Until then, Djokovic is free to remain in Australia and compete at the Open - which starts on January 17 - where he will bid to become the most-decorated men’s singles player of all time.

Australia is a country that has morphed into a vicious, virtue-signaling twat.
Djokovic will file an emergency injunction as courts are closed over the weekend.
The Govt has sneakily cancelled his visa on a Friday and so that his option to appeal before the AU open starts is limited.
It is doubtful at this stage whether Djokovic can play at the AU open on Monday when the tournament begins.
I’m thinking Djokovic is having fun making the Aussies look like the idiots they are. The whole country is full of insecure girly men. I’ve never met so many whingers.

The incumbent Govt( so called conservative) is trailing badly in the polls.
Its leader Morrison thought by detaining Djokovic and deporting him will give him a boost in polls as the public hatred against anti vax personalities is high thanks to the media but it backfired when Djokovic won his court case and was released.
Now it has used the personal power of the minister to cancel Djokovic visa on public interest grounds as it felt it had no other option find itself cornered.
Politically it has all been a mess, as the country is in the midst of a ommicron crisis and supply chain shortages and Govt is more interested in deporting a tennis player.

I have plenty of Aussie friends who are good guys. They think I’m a nutjob American. I’m an oddity to them for being a Trump supporter and an actual nutjob.
A lot of these guys were apparently great athletes when they were younger. They’re all really fat now. They don’t understand why I’m not fat like them. We go to lunch and eat and drink like Vikings. I just don’t eat for a couple of days after that. Lol.
