Radio station KRLA, blasting Southern California with Top 40 music at 1110 kilocycles from its 50,000-watt transmitter located just outside Whittier, had its own version of "New York's a Lonely Town," which was the only one you could hear on that station. (And no, this is not the conservative talk station with the same call letters heard today at 870 kcs.)
