Strong new evidence suggests a virus triggers multiple sclerosis
STAT News ^ | January 13, 2022 | Megan Molteni

If you were to ask any of the 1 million Americans living with multiple sclerosis, they’d probably say their disease started with changes so small they almost didn’t notice them: a wobbly step, a weakening grip, sight going soft around the edges. But MRI scans of their brains — dotted with ghostly white scars — would tell a different story.

Those scars are signs of inflammation dating back multiple years. Each spot represents a dead zone filled with mangled remains of thousands, sometimes millions, of neurons. Like city blocks going dark during a power outage, these cells blinked out one by one after an immune storm stripped off the insulating myelin sheath that helps them send and receive electrical signals. But what triggers the immune system to turn on itself is still a mystery.

Now researchers have found strong evidence that it’s an infection, specifically the Epstein-Barr virus, best known for causing mononucleosis. In a large cohort of military service members followed over many years, infection with Epstein-Barr increased the likelihood of developing multiple sclerosis, or MS, by more than 32-fold, a team of scientists led by Harvard University’s Neuroepidemiology Research Group reported in the journal Science on Thursday.

“Our data strongly suggest Epstein-Barr virus is the leading cause of multiple sclerosis,” said Kjetil Bjornevik, a research scientist at Harvard and the study’s lead author. “It was a really dramatic increase in risk that would be very hard to explain any other way.”

“I have worked with 26 patients with MS. Every single one of them had a trauma involving their father at age 5….”

I’m not sure what the causative nexus would be there. If you were not being sarcastic perhaps you could submit a proposal for a research grant to fund having this formally scientifically studied. I guess anything is possible even if unlikely.

I know the vax triggers shingles. I have multiple employees that have had that occur.

EBV can be symptomless in infants and toddlers. Also, that age has so many things making them mildly feverish that it’s hard to know one thing from another.

So you may have had it and just not have known.

It’s not worth trying to explain as few would believe it anyway.

It’s easy to demonstrate. I identify the source of psychological and physical illnesses. Mainly working with idiopathic cases.

Consciousness itself is a physical object to my perception. Thus I am able to read the stored memories in people’s souls that are the perceptual programming events and foundation for personality and consciousness development.

How have you avoided the employer shot mandates; has the Dr given you a med exemption letter to give to the HR department?

**************************I think there may be trauma at age 5 but not necessarily due to the father’s activity. I was in a concentration camp in the PI and given a small pox vaccination (age 3-5?) and almost lost my whole leg...the scar is the size of a 50C piece even now.

Later I began having MS symptoms though they were not called that then at age 27...and it came into full bloom at age 67.

All the way I fought with every activity I thought of and am now in Secondary Progressive MS (EBV never thought of, I am sure)and looking at a grim future at age 82 with all kinds of chairs, stools, canes, pee pots, special shoes and I still fall, sometimes lightly and sometimes with “Oh, my god, this is IT!”—and then I start to laugh! at what I conceive is “How I look!”. Incongruous and mystified!

I think the solution may be on the way now...not necessarily due to the activity of the father.

The Epstein Barr virus doesn't kill itself. Or more precisely, EBV is immortal.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human virus which infects almost all humans during their lifetime and following the acute phase, persists for the remainder of the life of the individual. EBV infects B lymphocytes leading to their immortalisation, with persistence of the EBV genome as an episome. In the latent phase, EBV is prevented from reactivating through efficient cytotoxic cellular immunity. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31315893/

So the question is why does it reactivate the same way, for example, shingles reactivates in some mRNA vaccine recipients. The answer is physiological and/or psychological stress. That stress can come from diseases like COVID too. There is no good way to handle a pandemic, and we've handled is especially poorly. And it will lead to more MS and other chronic disease.

Yes, happened to my friend. He had the shingles virus which was never active, and the vaccine reactivated it.

I am in CA. and my employer has NOT enforced the mandates, I think they were waiting for the SC decision, if these companies FORCE the vaccine and the employee has any adverse effects the company is liable!! I don’t think my company was looking forward to a lawsuit hell being hoisted upon them!! If the decision had gone in the opposite direction I would have quit, I am retired and working part time because I enjoy working a few days a week!! My store has 73 people not vaccinated take that number nationally for every store it would have been a HUGE nightmare for them!!!

Something like 95% of the population has had EBV at some point, it is super common.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Atlanta, USA), 95% of the adult population between the ages of 35 and 40 are carriers of EBV.

Oh NO! You're gonna die from MS unless you get vaccinated.

WOW I did not know this, I am going to talk to my neurologist about this, my doc WAS in the research department at UCLA med focus on immune disorders, he left over the vax mandates but still has his private practice!! I am going to ask him if he ever suspected Epstein-Barr being a source of MS!!

I feel so blessed that I was able to achieve remission before the immune system was able to do the damage it does to many!!

Ok that’s good!

I take it y’all are under the “companies with > 100 employees” and not CMS healthcare workers, fed contractors, or fed workers.

In addition to the sheer number of employees who would quit, I suspect these companies are acutely aware that it was a lot of black employees who wouldn’t take the shot which would look bad for the company when they fired them, and also that a lot of their very intelligent employees would walk as well. Many of those would retire with a wealth of knowledge whereas the younger ones would go work for their competitors that didn’t require the Jim Jones Jab.

“I wonder if CoupFlu vaxxes can cause reactivation of EBV...”
***********************************************************
I would think so since we already know the vaxxes cause radiation poisoning and stunt the growth of children. /sarc 🙀

“high vit d

************************************************************
Yes, vitamin D not only can benefit MS patients but low vitamin D can also make it more likely for MS to develop in a person. I recommend reading the entire linked article on the well done and definitive study. It pretty well nails EBV infection as a prerequisite for almost all MS disease but it’s apparently not enough by itself because only a small fraction of EBV infected also later end up with MS.

Below the dashed line is an extract which included their vitamin D discussion.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The study doesn’t explain how exactly EBV might trigger multiple sclerosis. Other research groups have speculated that the virus might carry proteins that resemble myelin, a case of molecular mimicry that could trigger an autoimmune reaction. Others have proposed that because EBV often takes up long-term residency in B cells, the latent infection may somehow transform these immune cells, making them pathogenic.

“It’s long been a theory that MS is a multifactorial disease,” said Wilson. Studies have shown that certain genes can heighten the risk of developing it. So can not getting enough vitamin D. Combined with an environmental exposure, like a viral infection, these factors might be enough to trigger the disease. “EBV probably isn’t the whole story, but this study helps show it’s clearly part of it. The exciting thing is that it’s a modifiable part of the story.”
