But, we can’t believe the CDC when is says the vaccines reduce hospitalizations and deaths. So, why is it a valid source on the severity of Omicron?
Anecdotal, but...
Everyone I know, dozens now. that has gotten this recent version, it is a cold, with a slight fever, mild cough (if any) all upper respiratory. Over in 2-4 days.
The worst case I have seen is someone who has major comorbidities- on o2 already for COPD, has blood clotting condition, stroke/cancer/heart attack survivor, obese, yet she is battling it at home, and is on the tail end after 3 weeks. For her it was like a bad flu. But ANY cold or flu is dangerous for her. She is a worst case scenario for Covid
So my gut feeling is that omicron is a nothingburger for the vast majority.

Your gut seems to be the reality out here in N. California and across the nation with friends/relatives who, have probably had omycrud and were over it in a few days.
My wife has a bible study group in our living room once a week. There are 9 other women.
Many of them and we have had this nothingburger and were over it in a few days.
My wife discussed this and if people wanted to drop out of her group due to the newest virus. 8 out of the nine said that they will continue to come. One woman and her husband are basically going back in time re reaction. She will not be coming back for awhile. They have laid off the couple that cleans their home once a month. We use the same couple, and the male said that everyone in his family had the real crud last year and are healthy now. This couple still laid their house cleaning people off.
Lol. The clown has arrived. So everyone can see how clown math works. All you need to do is take an irrelevant data comparison point and voila, you get the result you want.
There were two peaks in South Africa. At the peak of the original and the peak of the delta the daily death rates were triple and quadruple what they are now. Those are where you would make your comparisons if you were honest and not peddling fear porn and doom.

It’s not even a head cold. It’s more of a 36 hour flu/fever/headache and then chest congestion that causes an annoying cough but that is magically relieved when you take Pepcid. And an aspirin.
Well I take pepcid everyday so that’s good news.
Just like political polls, they tighten up and become more true the closer it gets to the end.

Reason I am asking is I have a friend whose husband got what they think is Omicron, and when I told her it is good it was Omicron because it was mild she went on about how sick he was with temperature of 103, etc.
They are Good Morning America watchers, and, hence, big believers in the jabs—she got it as soon as she could, I assume they probably got boosted tho I did not ask.
So I wonder if being jabbed makes Omicron worse than it is for the unjabbed. Interesting that only her husband got it.
No none of us are vaxxed. Her husband took the HCQ- Ivermectin protocol and left today to go fishing in Fla. He’s fine and so is the son.
