Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Lots of good points, but mostly from a symmetric warfare perspective. As you no doubt are aware there others ways to attack us that could be very problematic for a country with the incredibly complex systems that we rely on. In other words we’re highly vulnerable in some very obvious ways.

Of course our biggest vulnerabilities right now is our demonstrably weak and feckless leadership which leads me to another point. I’m also skeptical about our reliance on our so-called “allies”, especially with respect to having to contend with simultaneous aggression by Russia and China. They may back us up when facing a single aggressor because of our military superiority, but not so sure they would when the odds aren’t as good. They are going to start equivocating when things get tough.

Its also not lost on the rest of the world that we have our own set of serious problems, internal divides and dysfunctionalities that are weakening us. Somewhat related is the debacle in Afghanistan which provided reasons to be skeptical of U.S. “commitments”.

So to wrap it up, I still see concurrent threats as highly problematic, along with asymmetric warfare and weak leadership. We can agree to disagree, but I think we both agree that our impaired military readiness and weak leadership pose very serious problems for this country.

Yes, what I posted was limited too conventional type of weapons and warfare. And I always want to point out that Chinese and Russian military hardware are total shit compared to western allied military equipment. I am so sick and tired of the propaganda about them and their wonder weapons. Everytime somebody reports on their newest weapons, the reports are always framed as if these weapons were developed in a vaccuum and the dummies in the west have no defense against these chinese weapons. Oh, and its always reported in a way that makes it look like these weapons are infallible, they always hit their target and they never malfunction. So many people buy into that crap, even many on this site, and its just total bullshit.

Also, I don’t think we have to worry about Japan’s commitments, they know the Chinese have long memories and they are salivating over the prospect of getting revenge on Japan for all the attrocities committed in WWII in China. I don’t think we have to worry about Australia’s committment or the UK’s committment, they all know what they will face if Russia or China becomes the dominant power in their areas. Personally, I would be most distrustful of Canada’s committments to be perfectly honest. Trudeau and several other Canadian leftist leaders are true believers in communism and how china controls its people. I think this is the only real area of disagreement between us is the reaction of our allies. I doubt any of our allies believe it is in their best interests to allow Russia or China to become dominant over them, thus they will be with us, and the Americqn people, the vast majority will put their differences aside if we and our allies are attacked.
