You are absolutely correct. Here is the hard part from their side...if they ever admitted the real, hard truth of the Zuckerberg/Abrams/Dominion Systems/etc. systemic theft of the election, Tapper would be out of the club, forever.
He would lose everything and be a pariah of the Left, Dems and their Media accomplices. They recycle liars and felons like Brian Williams, Ray Lewis, Dan Rather and others, but cross the picket line into truth, you will be out.
Being out could also get you Vince Foster’d, too.

Average five year olds seeing the footage of EPPS blasting his voice, inciting people to march to and enter the Capitol, would all understand that this man was a ringleader trouble-maker. The young child knows that at school, a student would get in trouble for doing something like. Only a liberal would willfully self-deceiving in seeing EPP in action and hearing the crowd yell for the other, “Feds, Feds, Feds.”
It was, even at the time, that this was a disgraceful government operation aiming at inciting a “riot.” Every person who caused big time trouble that day was in law enforcement or special operations aimed at try ing to make Trump supporters look bad. Trump supporters were lawful and orderly, albeit they were upset with the vote steal and with the announcement a couple of hours earlier that V.P. Pence chose not to do what history was waiting for him to do. Those of us at home were outraged, too.
This man, called “Epp,” was there on his own accord or he was sent by somebody or some entity to ignite trouble that might put Trump supporters in a bad light. Either way, since the powers that be decided to arrest people, EPP would surely be at the tippy top of the list. Those of site smelled a rat and proclaimed for all the hear, “Feds...Feds...Feds...” They knew that Eps was from central casting.
