A new experimental nasal spray could prevent people from getting infected with COVID-19 for up to eight hours, according to a study.
The promising treatment has shown it can block infection from the virus in lab studies with mice, according to researchers at the University of Helsinki in Finland.

Tying a plastic bag around your head blocks it even better.
So it will never see the light of day or it will be banned by the FDC. Poor Kalle doesn't understand how the world works.
There has been research since 2020 that some common mouthwashes and nasal sprays already on the market can be effective in reducing the possibility of serious Covid infection, but our government has shown no interest in encouraging people to use those products. In fact, they have mocked and demonized anyone who suggests any OTC product as a prophylactic or early treatment.
“some common mouthwashes and nasal sprays already on the market can be effective”
10% Povidone Iodine solution and water, for one.
I bought the Povidone Iodine 10 percent to reduce to 1 percent for nasal spray and gargle. Highly reccommended.
I have Betadine mouthwash with .5% povidone iodine, and Crest Pro-Health mouthwash with cetylpyridinium chloride, which some claim is also effective. I use the betadine after being in public, and the other before bedtime and in the morning.
The common 12-hour nasal sprays are highly addictive. I don’t use them.
8 hours? No masks or sprays for 2 years and still ok. No thanks.
I just purchased some nasal atomizers and betadine 10%. Two teaspoons in 300 ml water, atomize in the nose snog back, spit out gargle the rest, and spit out.
I am told that if you go out to a large gathering, do it when you come home, or if you start feeling symptoms, do it and it helps you recover faster.
Put it in vapes and the people will come... Not me, I don’t smoke or vape but, seems like a next step...
1 1/2 Tablespoon of 10% iodine to 250 ml of previously boiled water
We’re all going to get it. Just pray you get over it.
Who the heck EVER thought they’d hear “additional protection to compliment the vaccine” ? Ya just admitted it doesn’t work, and now you want boosters AND a nasal spray? Insane!
Ditto. Me too. Gotta say most of people here are great researchers and very well read. Every instinct I have had since onset of pandemic has been proven true since
I can see the mice trying to pump the little bottle...
Sooo, if I use the nasal spray does that mean that any
mice in my house won’t get covid?
I found this interesting- they were prepping my FIL for surgery today and swabbed his nose with povidone-iodine solution. The nurse said it was to help prevent spreading infection.
First time I have seen that pre-op
As a retired ENT, I wholeheartedly agree. We're talking Afrin and its OTC 12-hr competitors here.
Over the years I've had many patients come to me because they had become dependent on Afrin-like sprays to even breath occasionally through their nose. This is because initially Afrin does cause the nasal membrane to shrink which temporarily improves breathing, but repeated usage gradually causes severe membrane irritation resulting in even more swelling. After continued usage the irritation and resulting swelling can become so severe that even Afrin can't open the nose. The recovery period is long (several weeks or more) and miserable.
Never use Afrin or similar long-lasting sprays more than a few days or you'll be at risk of becoming dependent. If you were to get "nose spray nose", however, there are a few tricks to make recovering less miserable, but they are beyond the scope of this post.

Note: It is a combination that is not available through an equine medicine retailer.
I have no idea how long it takes to administer each day.
With vaccines, a few quick jabs protect against severe infection for months.
I used Listerine for this purpose from March 2020-January 2021 and just started again.
