It is usually administered during a procedure when the patient is a “twilight sleep” form of anesthesia. This way you don’t remember the conversation of the medical team.

Some special ops units also receive it.

ive had some kind of amnesia drug- but dont’ remember the name- mighta been that one- or another form- but i sure didnt’ remember what was done or said when they gave it to me-
