No! I hate that song
No
Simply popping out of the birth canal here should NOT be 3nough .
A child should be the citizen of the country for which it parents are the legal citizens of .
If they are legal U.S. citizens ( both or one) then fine, no issues. But if they are the result of illegal entry to participate in illegal anchor-baby scamming , then absolutely not.
No other county on earth allows this scam . Neither should we .
No.
Everyone should have go through the naturalization process.
Failure to earn citizenship should bar individuals from elected or appointed offices, and from holding most government jobs.
Of course not.
Service in the armed forces should be a requirement. Heinlein got this one right.
No, but we know that in today’s America that qualifies me as racist.
I also think everyone should do some form of public service for at least 2 years.
Does this even have to be asked anymore?
Simply starting by NOT giving citizenship to babies born here of illegal alien parents would remove a massive incentive to invade.
As for others here on the ninety zillion visa types, the real answer is to stop handing out visas.
We owe the illegals nothing. Their children are not “stateless”, and they arent Americans, and they shouldnt vote in our elections, EVER. They inherit their parents nationality. That means they can go home and live happily ever after.
Why do the countries that leftists lionize and want to emulate not recognize birthright citizenship?
There is NO LAW granting citizenship to kids born in the US ... if their parents are not either US citizens or citizens of another country who have LEGALLY immigrated to the US
Nope.
Loyalty to the country should count for something.
I love how the leftists think we should emulate Europe. So let’s do it like Switzerland.
“F” NO!
Surprise! Being born on American soil was NEVER enough to receive citizneship. The Constitution requires them to be SUBJECT TO THE JURISDICTION THEREOF.
But thanks to Clinton, Bush, and Obama, that requirement was quietly deleted from our constitution (just like the NBC requirement) and we got 10s of millions of new “American” citizens who came here to steal your jobs and your country, just like the deep state wanted.
It’s nice to have texts and legislation to support the idea of ending birthright citizenship, but in practical terms, the loosest definition of birthright citizenship has been the law of the land for at least two generations now. If there’s any going back in a real way, it will require something at the level of a constitutional amendment. Maybe not exactly an amendment per se, but sustained support at that level for multiple years and a positive, unambiguous Supreme Court ruling that affirms it. In a country as bitterly divided as ours is, with so many snakes in the grass waiting to bite any effort like this in the heels, I don’t know how it goes past the level of internet forum argument without a big change in strategy.
In the 1997 movie “Starship Troopers”, citizenship in the futuristic USA is no longer a birthright.
It was never the intention of the framers of the 14th amendment to create this result. This result is mostly the result of activist judges interpreting the law that way.
See my tagline. That comes from John Bingham who was the chief proponent of the 14th amendment in the House of Representatives. The statement is from his speech on the House floor during the debate on the 14th amendment.
ABS NOT
That being said, the high cost of generations of parents not making sure that their children are being taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers as the delegates to the Constitutional Convention had intended for those power to be understood is that many patriots are not able to argue against politically correct Democratic and RINO federal citizenship policy.
“3. The Constitution was written to be understood by the voters; its words and phrases were used in their normal and ordinary as distinguished from technical meaning; where the intention is clear, there is no room for construction and no excuse for interpolation or addition.” —United States v. Sprague, 1931.
More specifically, the paragraph below by Justice Joseph Story below is a good read about the purpose of the "uniform Rule of Naturalization Clause." The hilited part at bottom of paragraph is effectively the cost of what elite pirate Democrats are now trying to do to win votes to stay in power imo.
"Article I, Section 8, Clause 4: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;"
"Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4 (Citizenship) § 1098. The propriety of confiding the power to establish an uniform rule of naturalization to the national government seems not to have occasioned any doubt or controversy in the convention. For aught that appears on the journals, it was conceded without objection. Under the confederation, the states possessed the sole authority to exercise the power; and the dissimilarity of the system in different states was generally admitted, as a prominent defect, and laid the foundation of many delicate and intricate questions. As the free inhabitants of each state were entitled to all the privileges and immunities of citizens in all the other states, it followed, that a single state possessed the power of forcing into every other state, with the enjoyment of every immunity and privilege, any alien, whom it might choose to incorporate into its own society, however repugnant such admission might be to their polity, conveniencies, and even prejudices. In effect every state possessed the power of naturalizing aliens in every other state; a power as mischievous in its nature, as it was indiscreet in its actual exercise. In one state, residence for a short time might, and did confer the rights of citizenship. In others, qualifications of greater importance were required. An alien, therefore, incapacitated for the possession of certain rights by the laws of the latter, might, by a previous residence and naturalization in the former, elude at pleasure all their salutary regulations for self-protection. Thus the laws of a single state were preposterously rendered paramount to the laws of all the others, even within their own jurisdiction. And it has been remarked with equal truth and justice, that it was owing to mere casualty, that the exercise of this power under the confederation did not involve the Union in the most serious embarrassments. There is great wisdom, therefore, in confiding to the national government the power to establish a uniform rule of naturalization throughout the United States. It is of the deepest interest to the whole Union to know, who are entitled to enjoy the rights of citizens in each state, since they thereby, in effect, become entitled to the rights of citizens in all the states. If aliens might be admitted indiscriminately to enjoy all the rights of citizens at the will of a single state, the Union might itself be endangered by an influx of foreigners, hostile to its institutions, ignorant of its powers, and incapable of a due estimate of its privileges [emphasis added]." —Justice Joseph Story, Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 3, 1833.
The bottom line is that misguided federal Democratic and RINO policy on citizenship requirements has effectively wrongly nullified what the founders had wanted the Naturalization Clause to prevent renegade states from doing imo.
In fact, the congressional record shows that post-Civil War lawmakers had also recognized the problem of renegade states allowing non-citizens to vote as a threat to the "uniform Rule of Naturalization Clause."
" If the States can admit to the elective franchise those who are not citizens, thereby neutralizing the votes of citizens, not only the Federal power of naturalization becomes a nullity, but" * * * * "a minority of citizens by the aid of aliens may control the government of the States, and through the States the government of the Union [emphases added]." —Appendix to the Congressional Globe, 1868. (See near middle of 1st column.)
" Whatever difference there may be as to what other rights appertain to a citizen, all must agree that he has the right to petition and also to claim the Protection of the Government. These belong to him as a member the body politic, and the possession of them is what separates citizens of the lowest condition from aliens and slaves. To suppose that a State can make an alien a citizen or confer on him the right of voting would involve the absurdity of giving him the direct and immediate control of the action of the General Government, from which he can claim no protection and to which he has no right to present a petition [emphasis added]." —Appendix to the Congressional Globe, 1868. (See bottom half of 1st column.)
Corrections, insights welcome.
The ultimate remedy for unconstitutionally big, alleged election-stealing, Democratic Party-pirated federal and state governments, allegedly manufacturing crises to oppress everybody under their boots...
Consider that the states effectively have "veto power" over continued unpopular, unconstitutional actions of the feds.
More specifically, all the states can effectively “secede” from the unconstitutionally big federal government by doing the following.
Patriots need to primary federal and state elected officials who don't send voters email ASAP that clearly promises to do the following.
Federal and state lawmakers need to promise in their emails to introduce resolutions no later than 100 days after start of new legislative sessions that proposes an amendment to the Constitution to the states, the amendment limited to repealing the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments (16&17A), little or no discussion required imo.
In fact, I challenge the states to ram the repeal amendment for 16&17A through the ratification process faster than Nancy Pelosi irresponsibly rammed unconstitutional Obamacare through the House. /semi-sarc
Again, insights welcome.
the “born in the US” law needs to be modified to read “born in the US of at least one US citizen.”
Children born of illegal aliens today are automatic citizens (anchor babies) which then cause their illegal parents to stay in the US. This is not right and must be changed.
