Sadly, you are right. We have friends who had another friend, and we would see him annually at a Christmas gathering, if not once in a while otherwise during the year. He was a bachelor, but one of the kindest, most generous people you’d ever meet. He lived way out and took care of his home and land mostly by himself. He always told us that as long as we had a useful skill, we could come live with him on his 30 acres when the SHTF.

We now have to come up with a new plan. One day in 2020 he was working his land with a tractor. He got in a pickle somehow, and the tractor flipped and ended on top of him. He was crushed, died instantly. He was found with his dog at his side a day later. It took months for our friends to find out what had really happened, but someone in his family finally reached out to them. It was such a tragedy. Miss him.

Oh man. Yeah, it isn’t with out risks. But it’s worth it for me although I’m not as far out as your friend (RIP).
