Deaths due to “weather disasters” in any given year, vary from locality to locality even under the same weather conditions and have multiple variables in their cause of which the weather itself is only one part. It is not a given that “deaths in weather disasters” automatically equates to “more extreme weather”.
Notice also that the article selectively uses “since 2011”, which ignores “deaths during weather disasters” greater than those in 2021 or 2011 that occurred in certain years before 2011. In general, deaths in natural disasters has decreased over the years, on a per 100,000 person basis due to improvements and changes in non-weather factors, like building codes.
10 year sample size is worthless. Equivalent to sampling 10 voters and then projecting national election results.
