“Did you notice in there that the landlord cannot recover their property in order to sell it. These democrats are the most vile evil communists in the country. Landlords are still under the eviction freeze in NY too. Some landlords have not been paid in two years. Even landlords with only one rental.”

After an unfortunate brief experience as a landlord in the North, I would not even consider being a landlord north of TN. And my experience was 35 years ago. In Illinois, I believe multiple witnesses have to see a tenant murder at least two people in order to have that tenant immediately evicted.

This basically says they don’t want people to empty a property so they can sell it. Not every rental is an apartment building. Some are single family homes. Who is going buy such a home for personal use if a tenant is living there?

These people are sick.

More on NY moratorium:

“The new moratorium, which lasts through Jan. 15, 2022, allows landlords to challenge a tenant’s hardship declaration by submitting a sworn statement claiming that the tenant has not lost income during the pandemic. The Rent Stabilization Association, a landlord group that has been fighting the eviction moratorium in federal court since May, claims that the new iteration of the law continues to deny landlords due process in court.

Attorney Randy Mastro, a partner with Gibson Dunn, who represents RSA, argued that landlords have no way of knowing the details of their tenants’ financial situations.

“Landlords can’t swear in good faith that their tenants have no hardships,” Mastro said. “They would have to subject themselves to the penalty of perjury on subjects they couldn’t possibly know about their tenants. Many tenants aren’t even communicating with their landlords, so how are landlords supposed to even know?””

And one last thing about NY. A tenant that has left to live somewhere else for a number of months cannot be evicted even if they are months behind on the rent. Even if there failure to pay the heat causes the apartment to freeze up. Pure Evil.
