This is ridiculous. We will all be dead by 2035 from Covid.
Mining for battery materials for electric vehicles will be remembered as the worst environmental catastrophe in world history.
Old hotness: Raptor.
New Hotness: Hennessey.
The same problem will happen with California fires and a creaky power grid, and California has 42% of all EVs on the road in America.
Maybe CaliPornia will be saved from that if enough people move out.
Trade your EV for a sailboat.
I heard on a piece the other day that a guy went to replace the battery in his Tesla. The cost? $17,000
And just who is going to control those battery materials? I assure you it ain’t gonna be The Boy Scouts.
Yeah, but the ‘mover outers’ may bring(and often do) their calipornia thought process with them.
Stupid article and premise.
People who live in hurricane alley know when a hurricane is coming and will make sure the car is fully charged ahead of time.
People in hurricane alley know the drill.
The Chinese Communist Party.
China will also have a monopoly on electric vehicle production.
I read one from Sweden that a tesla replacement battery pack was $20k. The owner contracted with some company to blow it up in a rock quarry someplace. Video was included. The owner said it was better than the day he bought it to blow it up.
LOL! Been there done that. NOT everybody has planning skills.

Older obsolete model. Battery innovation has chnaged leaps and bounds in the even the last 4-5 years.
Toyota is coming out with 2 new EV’s next year. Game changers according to Toypta USA. 450 mile range, the motor will be warrantied for a million miles (only one moving part) and Toyota claims the batteries will last 15 years.
They are new solid state batteries not what the current ev companies are using.
Nope, wonβt happen because President Cortez will simply mandate that all EVs carry self-charging power strips.

Another problem???
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) found that in 2018, a total of 212,500 vehicle fires caused 560 civilian deaths in the US.Dec 8, 2021
You canβt put out these fires with A, B, and C fire extinguishers You need βDβ type extinguishers.
Cost of a “D” extinguisher is over $900
And you need TWO!
Agreed. Hurricanes offer enough advance warning, and structures built post 1992 (which by 2035 will be a majority of housing in FL) are hardened enough to allow shelter in place for everyone but immediate coastal residents. Electrics will create some problems - but nothing like this scenario.

Oh, please, you missed The Airhead of Congress (AOC) when she proclaimed we’ll all be dead in 2030. Please get a calendar and keep current.
Mea culpa.

*************
Not just that. What about old worn out batteries? What happens with this mess?
