Peking became Beijing
Persia became Iran
Siam became Thailand
Bombay became Mumbai
I’m sure there are many others. I know some African countries changed names when they became independent countries rather than colonies of European countries.

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Has been its official name since establishment of the republic in 1923.
This is just a change in transliteration to better indicate pronunciation.
