The Truth You Never Learned about Watergate
American Thinker ^ | December 31, 2021 | By John Dale Dunn

In 2019, I wrote here < https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/06/the_emrealem_lesson_of_watergate_ignored_in_john_deans_testimony_and_media_commentary.html > and here < https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/06/geoff_shepard_buttoned_down_watergate_demolition_.html > at American Thinker of the work of Geoff Shepard — certainly the reigning expert on the Watergate Affair because of his long history of scholarship and archive- and document-diving. At the time, I interviewed Mr. Shepard. I asked him to assess what he knew about Watergate and to compare the Watergate affair to what was happening in D.C. with the Trump coup attempt. I also solicited his opinions on what is being called the Deep State and its role in the Russia/Trump collusion plot. By that time, both Mr. Shepard and I were convinced that there were some lessons to be learned, but he withheld his opinions because he is a careful writer and attorney and had not investigated the Trump matters in depth.

[...]

Shepard is arguably the most knowledgeable expert on the Watergate affair extant. He was an eyewitness and deeply engaged participant. For example, he transcribed personally the "smoking gun" tape. His conclusion is that Watergate was a bloodless coup accomplished by Democrat partisans from D.C. and Massachusetts, the two electoral entities that voted for McGovern in an otherwise landslide Nixon re-election victory in 1972. Anti-Nixon D.C. bureaucrats, lawyers, judges, and politicians put together the coup to reverse an election — sound a little too familiar in 2021? Another elemental parallel in the scenarios of 1972 and today is Republican Party establishment pooh-bahs who didn't raise a finger for Nixon — again a warning of what happened recently to Trump.

Democrats are 40% of the voting public.

The Republicans KNOW that they will get their share of legislative seats just by the numbers.

That is why many of them choose to be Assistant Democrats, while allowing the 40% Demoscams to rig "elections".

You are party correct. But on the Republicans....they probably only make up 40-percent. Independents hold around 20-percent of the vote, and are the ones to swing elections one way or another. It was the independents who swung the vote in 1992 for Ross Perot...helping Clinton to win in the end. Same story in 1912, independents went to Roosevelt, helping Wilson to win.

Right.

The Perot conservatives have been voting Republican since 1994.

A respectable percentage fell off the wagon in 1996, but since then, Pubbie.

Silent Coup

https://www.watergate.com/site-index

https://www.watergate.com/

SILENT COUP is the excavation of some vital of some vital hidden history, of a national scandal within a scandal, and of a literary-journalistic atrocity of revealing while concealing.

There are several virtues that make this book quite remarkable among political writing of our era. What follows is a finely styled, fast-paced narrative, gripping as it is disturbing. Distinguished from so much written about Watergate and Richard Nixon, it also happens to be true.

You are about to read the story of a coup d’état, of all political events the most dramatic, suspenseful, sinister. To make the subject even more ominous, this is an American coup, albeit carried out (for a change) in the United States itself.

- Roger Morris, former National Security Council Staff Member under Henry Kissinger

Bears repeating. Watergate is where the Mediacracy really made their bones and found they were the greatest political power in the nation, able to unseat a president and decide who was acceptable to hold office.

“Judge” Sirica considered himself quite the celebrity over his handling of the Watergate matter. So much so that when retired in 1980 he thought he could swing the presidential election in favor of the incompetent Jimmy Carter against Reagan so he rode around the country with Carter. As the election results showed, no one outside Deep State/Academia gave a damn about what this corrupt old man thought and I hope he realized it.

Yes, the mediacracy overestimated their power, and underestimated Reagan's ability to communicate.

It was one of a two elections where they were not able to keep the Presidency in Deep State hands. The other was the election of Donald Trump, after they had been losing the power to define the narrative for two decades.

G Gordon Liddy, who didn’t cop a plea like the rest of the rats went to his grave stating that:

- Nixon had no prior knowledge of the incident and did not order it.
- Dean and Dean alone orchestrated the incident because his fiance was involved with prostitutes (her roommates IIRC) that were servicing Democrat big-wigs and he was trying to cover that up.

As the only one that didn’t roll to save his own skin, I believe GGL.

When it came out that deputy chief of the FBI Mark Felt was Deep Throat, I remember his daughter and grandson on tv braying that they were owed money for their father’s betrayal, which he had done for the reason he was angry about being passed over for FBI Chief. Thirty pieces of silver would have done just fine - Watergate resulted in the abandonment of South Vietnam, the deaths of hundreds of thousands at the hands of the communists, and the election of a veto proof Congress that did damage we still sustain today.

One item all researchers have missed and that is the link between the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, (VVAW) and Watergate. The VVAW was in contact with the North Vietnam Communists and took direction from them. They also passed Military secrets to the NVN Communists. The VVFW was also deeply connected to the DNC.

Elements of the VVAW plotted to murder Nixon, and about 20 US Senators who supported the Vietnam War.

Nixon was protecting National Security by planting bugs in the DNC, his failure was to prosecute the DNC party leaders and leaders of the VVAW

My source is I have read the complete FBI File on the VVFW and posted many articles here on FR.

Yes, precisely, and all done by the Media and unelected bureaucrats.

And just like Ted Kennedy at Chappaquiddick, the architects of the betrayal couldn’t care less about the people that died nor the damage that was done to this country. The question needs to be asked “had they no souls”?

I read a boo called “Silent Coup,” that exposed John Dean’s mendacity. I think Nixon died before that book came out.

Yes. It shows how much further they were willing to go, and how they ultimately had to rig an election to get rid of him.

Even with that, he is much more popular than the Democrat they put in the white house.

I agree; we’ve had twelve years out of the past 48 in which we’ve had a President (Reagan, Trump) who represented the American people and not the Deep State. If you saw Cheney on Capitol Hill on this past Jan. 6th, it was clear that he is no different, and in many ways worse than Biden, Obama or Carter. Same for his boss, GW, GW’s father and Gerry Ford.
