And even with the questions the 2022 Winter Olympics, officially the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Beijing 2022, are an upcoming international winter multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 4 to 20 February 2022 in Beijing and venues near neighboring towns of Yanqing and Chongli in the People’s Republic of China. And covid is everywhere.

While the amount of spectators is being cut, the events being scheduled is also. These Winter Games will feature a record 109 events, that number is only around a third of the number from 2008 and is only 7 more than the Pyeongchang event in 2018. Organisers have yet to decide whether locals will be allowed to attend events. Since December 26, only cars and people connected to the Olympics have been allowed to use six roads around the stadium and other venues in the capital’s north. Those foreigners who are allowed to attend – coaches and athletes, support staff, politicians and journalists – will stay in a bubble from the moment they arrive in China. As with last year’s delayed Summer Games in Tokyo, dedicated transport will be provided for them to travel from venues and their accommodation.

China is a closed society. So what is their end game?

My guess is wait until the virus mutates into endemic status or when scientists come up with a superior vaccine.

My guess is former is more likely than latter but no one knows how long it'll take before the virus mutates itself so it will become harmless. There's always another variant that could threaten us all.
