Maine’s Second Congressional District.....27,000 square miles and 80% of the state....is turning red.
We lost our GOP congressman...Bruce Poliquin... in 2018 because of Rank Choice Voting. He is trying again this November.
Maine has only two congressional districts but splits its electoral votes just like Nebraska.
Candidate Donald Trump carried Maine’s Second District in 2016 by 10 points. He and members of his family made many trips here.
In 2020 President Trump also carried this district. I don’t know the percentage.
Maine had the most conservative governor in the country, Paul LePage, from January 2011 until January 2019. He couldn’t run for a third consecutive term because of term limits, but he is running again this November. LePage pushed through Constitutional Carry in 2015. The same bill legalized switch blades.
In 2016 Bloomturd sponsored a ballot initiative that would have banned the private sale of firearms in Maine. Bloomturd failed; the voters wanted to keep private sales of firearms.
It seems to be more Democrat-leaning than Republican, and Trump himself is an outlier (as he really had no party - much of the Republican establishment turned on him).
