The day before Christmas Eve, a devastated but headstrong state worker strode into the Department of Developmental Services office in Springfield to collect her belongings and say goodbye to colleagues.
...
Late Tuesday afternoon, the state government chose Coughlin’s fate for her, once again denying her plea for a medical exemption under Gov. Charlie Baker’s COVID vaccine mandate. In the penultimate blow from the state, Coughlin is now suspended without pay for 10 days.
If Coughlin does not receive a second vaccine dose within that time frame, she’ll be fired, according to a warning letter from the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
Except Coughlin, who believes in the science and effectiveness of the vaccine, cannot roll up her sleeve for that shot — as she’s repeatedly told the state, it could kill her.
“In my situation, I should be the poster child for a medical exemption,” Coughlin said. “I am the reason those types of things should exist.” ... Coughlin had tried to get vaccinated long before it was a state requirement, she emphasized to MassLive and repeatedly to state officials processing her medical records. Frances N. Nwajei, the former director of diversity at DDS, told Coughlin that her case seemed clear-cut to protect her job.
... In March 2021, Coughlin’s primary care physician, affiliated with Trinity Health of New England, recommended she not receive the second Moderna dose “due to the medically concerning adverse reaction she sustained from the first vaccine.” The doctor listed Coughlin’s “significant” cardiac symptoms, including tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, heart palpitations and shortness of breath.

These people are just evil.
Where does the Constitution say it can be abrogated because people have gotten sick and died?
Dictators gotta dictate.
She's publicly stated she's biased as well as ignorant.
Evil is right. It’s about control. . .not a disease.
Case in point from this summer....
FEMA Amends COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Policy
This policy change was made after consulting with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention officials and other health experts. The new policy provides applicants, as well as medical authorities, coroners and jurisdictions, flexibility to attribute a death to COVID-19 without amending the death certificate. The change also provides flexibility with documentation for the period before the CDC-published and implemented COVID-19 death certificate guidance in the spring of 2020.
Is there any doubt where three of the nine justices will rule?
We can only hope for a five - four against.
I would say that's a "tell".
EDIT: Wrong headline, should be “Massachusetts is on the verge of firing a partially COVID vaccinated state worker who sought medical waiver after suffering allergic reaction to first shot.”
Reported to mods. Sorry for any confusion.
“The doctor listed Coughlin’s “significant” cardiac symptoms, including tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, heart palpitations and shortness of breath.”
...Wow. This is simply horrifying. And it’s precedence, so others will do or are doing the same thing. No excuses. Not even imminent death.
She’s a crackpot
Thanks!
BTW, NYS is planning on making healthcare workers, the same ones who stood by while their refusenik colleagues got shafted, get yet another shot.
You didn’t read the article, did you?
Just remember that there were Republicans who voted to confirm bat-Sh!+ crazy Kagan and Sotomayor . . . unforgivable!!!!!
>>Where does the Constitution say it can be abrogated because people have gotten sick and died?<<
H1N1, Influenza A/B, Avian, West Nile, HIV, TB, Meningitis, Hep C, Measles, Mumps and on and on. I don’t see employers mandating jack diddly squat for these and more...so why Covid?
My corporation did give me a religious exemption “for now” they termed it. I must test every week to keep my access badge active submitting a neg. result.
Now test kits in short supply, I’m scrambling to find testing on Saturdays to submit for the week. Freakin insane!
5th U.S. Circuit court and 6th Circuit placed a stay on the mandate. Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order banning vaccine mandates but still being required to test as a condition of employment.
Now, a 30 yr career hanging in the balance by the SCOTUS. This is a make or break. If the Supreme court says the private employer mandate is legal...I will likely be coerced into taking the vaccine. Which I will again deny..then it’s bye bye.
30 years at the same company. Since my mid 20’s I’ve given this company my loyal services with an exemplary record of achievement.
Oh well, we will see in a few days what the what up is. I will always be able to look at myself in the mirror and know I’ve defended my freedom.
I have discovered the real reason for the denial. From the linked article ““Granting your request would increase workplace safety risks and negatively impact safety planning,” Donna Daniels, the secretariat director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at EOHHS, wrote in the letter to Coughlin”
Guess the race of Daniels. YOu can be sure she is not going to grant any exemption to any White person. Most likely has wanted Coughlin out of that office before this. In the interest in getting a more diverse stafff.
Each day I turn on the tube and see that the "federal agencies" have done an about face on their [so-called] 'firm' policies concerning covid, and I wonder how many billions of dollars we've frittered away over the years only to get this mixed up conflicting WORTHLESS guidance.
Exactly
So is CT.
