I caught Covid and maybe felt sick and had a fever for exactly one hour. My poor mother on the other hand had it for about 3 or 4 days before recovering.
No different than the flu in either case, except I haven’t caught the flu in about 25 years.
Thank you.
Something having to do with the position of the lungs in the body, combined with gravity? Maybe laying on the back or side impedes the lung's access to oxygen. The phlegm may be a gravity issue? Best guess.
I do know this. After running long distance (cross country/track), you may want to bend over and put your hands on your knees to recover.
Bad move. The training is to stand up straight so the lungs are open and able to get more oxygen. Bending over crimps them. Crimp is the official medical term. Haha.
"My daughter is probably one of the most experienced COVID nurses in America as so many of her co workers refused to come to work when this started
she and one other nurse in her hospital had to cover most of the cases.
She will tell you if you have any issues breathing lay on your stomach. No matter how uncomfortable you are lay on your stomach.
Get more oxygen deep into your lungs and helps you cough up any phlegm.
At least two friends that were denied medical care were basically saved by doing this more than anything else."
What do you want the doctor to do, specifically?
I believe that you are right- it is a gravity issue having to do with preventing phlegm (mucus moisture)going into the lungs, which leads to pneumonia, and its associated complications.
Pneumonia is moisture in the lungs which prevents adequate oxygen transfer into the blood system.
The protocol seems to be stay home and wait it out. If you are going to die, go die in a hospital.
I just tested positive today. For me it’s a cross between a bad cough and mild flu but with loss of taste and smell.
I think your pizza/obesity theory may be correct.
From experience your RN daughter is spot on with the laying on stomach. I was recently hospitalized for a week with covid pneumonia and, as recommended by doctors and nurses, laid on my stomach as much as could stand, not very much really. It is very hard to do in a hospital bed when you hooked to O2 and a heart monitor. I found that laying on my left side was better than laying on back but not as good as stomach. I could watch the monitor and see what positioning did to my O2 level, stomach was best. The term used is “proning”.
When I got home it was much easier to lay on my stomach for an hour at a clip. I rotated through stomach and each side but did spend quite a bit on my back (actually sitting in the recliner}. I wasn’t able or didn’t have the will power a few days due to hellish pain in my back when I tried.
I have been off the O2 since Christmas day, was on for about 10 days at home. My O2 level is still low 90’s but slowly elevating. Hope to be in upper 90s in a week or so.
I am talking about therapeutics.
The PCR test is a LIE..
They finally admitted it didn’t differentiate between covid and the flu. I think a lot had the flu last year and thought or were told it was covid. I think the only unshared symptom between the two is loss of taste and smell. But I’m not sure, don’t have much experience with the flu.
Well- a little more than ‘Take some ibuprofin and rest’.
I mean seriously, after 2 years...that’s the best he can do??
“I had the Pfizer shots early last year, as I am a diabetic with kidney disease and lung damage from an accident 12 years ago. I didn’t get the booster but was thinking about it for after the holidays.”
Moderna 2 shots here..overweight and I have hbp. Day 20+ after covid. I had it really really rough but it never went to my lungs.
Day 9-10 I felt great Day 12 or 13 it came back with a terrible resolve for 2-3 days then went away which from what I read is commom-you have a few rally days and then it comes back for a while and this is when most people get it in their lungs after day 12 or so.
I plan on getting the booster but my Dr. said I need to wait 3 months after covid.
And mutates similar to flu- no mask, no mandate, no lockdown and NO VACCINE can stop this unmitigated disaster that was released into the population. It’s way past time to focus on TREATMENT and why’s of how some people are more affected than others (some, but not all is known about susceptible individuals). Mass vaccination with leaky vaccine has made it worse. You can’t run, can’t hide. Now I need to find a way to make peace with that, or lose my mind completely. We take recommended supplement regimens and try to take care of ourselves as best we can while working/commuting full time, but it’s A LOT. I am exhausted and mentally worn out as well.
Lay on your stomach as much as you can stand. Look up “proning’. I deer hunted for 7 days with covid and some time after that I developed pneumonia. Ended up in the hospital 11 days after the 1st symptom.
Not sure if laying on your stomach will prevent pneumonia but it can’t hurt.
“My O2 level is still low 90’s but slowly elevating”
What did your oxygen level go down to if I can ask?
A FB friend has covid and he went from 94 to 91 is about 12-15 hours. He is now in a hospital.-not sure what his oxygen dropped to or where it is at. I pray he recovers. He has not posted since he went into the hospital 4-5 days ago.
Keep an eye on your O2 level. If you don’t have an oximeter, get one by any means possible now. I had for over a week before things got bad. The oximeter is the only thing that told me I was in bad shape, below 90%.
