Michigan Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D) on Tuesday said she would not seek another term after serving eight years in Congress, making her the 25th House Democrat this year to announce plans to retire.
"This year marks my 30th year in elected public service, and I've had the good fortune of serving Michiganders on the local and national level," Lawrence wrote on Twitter on Tuesday, along with a video announcement.
"After reflecting on my journey & having conversations with my family, I'm announcing that I will not be seeking re-election to Congress," she wrote.

We actually had the record in 2018 with LYIN Ryan leading the way and screwing us and Trump, 34 left the house giving the house to the Dems!!!

Redistricting going on. 14th district (hers) was 57-percent black and centered on Detroit city itself. New district map, would probably be only around high-40s on black population. Added to this, Lawrence would have been competing against Dingell (who lost her district).

It was certainly a strategic move for Ryan’s net worth. He “retired” from government service with a big pension and parlayed his “experience” into corporate board seats and consulting jobs earning him millions. Handing the House to the Democrats, and therefore making Trumps second two years even more difficult, was a bonus.
Ryan’s performance in the 2012 election VP debate against Joe Biden was one of the worst since televised debates began in the 1960 campaign. Biden constantly slapped and humiliated Ryan, and Ryan didn’t lay a blow on Joe. It was almost as though he was intentionally throwing the match. Of course Ryan’s running mate at the top of the ticket, Mitt Romney, completely crumbled when the debate moderator and Obama tag teamed him in one of the debates. Almost as though the entire thing was staged.
Ryan was a Washington insider. He played his role and was rewarded handsomely for his performance. Today he is enjoying the good life.
All these senior Democrat Congressmen that are not running for re-election in 2022 are doing this drop out to prevent themselves from showing they were rejected by the very own voters that voted them into office..period!!! These folks want to leave the Congress with a winning record, and they all see the handwriting on the wall, that their failed illegal POTUS, Democrat “Zero” Joe Biden will bring them all to losing their seats!
Fact is, there is no real leadership in the entire Democrat Party. Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, etc. are nothing but
Empty Suits” from A-Z!!! Dems gotta clean house....Biden, Harris, Pelosi & Schumer need to be removed from office like right now!!! Enough said!!! Democrats....do it now, or die as an effective political party...period!!!
It’s not a coincidence that an *independent* board was created to re-district Michigan following the census after the notion was put on the ballot alongside legalizing marijuana. There were a couple other states that got bit by this too.
The potheads turned out emphatically to support the measure and clicked the redistricting measure as well. The red legislature has always been good in the past like carving out seats to the likes of say David Bonior, but not anymore as those days are gone. In those days we had a 2:1 ratio congressional majority but turncoats like Justin Amash started the downhill slide and finished off with purebred RINOs like Upton and Meijer.
On that notion there is a very good chance the all the lefttard blue executive offices will be turned out next year too, it should be noted that Michigan was almost completely red until the RINO do-nothings drove away all the conservative voters hence the blue wave that swept the state.
With decent candidates we might be looking at a red sweep back, stay tuned.

I hope so, but perhaps I’m becoming jaded in my old age, but I’m not so hopeful about things changing much or actual justice being done.
Valid points, but you write as if Ryan is totally out of the RINO-US-Washington ticket making competition after “retiring” from the House in only 2018 to give Pelosi the 2018 victory. And, of course, to stop Trump the last two years.
Why do you he is now sidelined for the next 16 years? Seems like he is one “the insiders” we should fear most? Yes, the press corpse will turn on him immediately after election, but push him over anybody else before.
