Everywhere you look, Democrats are warning about the threat to democracy currently posed by Trump or the GOP or some combination of the two. The panic seems omnipresent and is peaking as we approach the anniversary of the Jan. 6 riots at the capitol. Last week the NY Times published an editorial titled “Every day is Jan. 6 now.”
One year after the smoke and broken glass, the mock gallows and the very real bloodshed of that awful day, it is tempting to look back and imagine that we can, in fact, simply look back. To imagine that what happened on Jan. 6, 2021 — a deadly riot at the seat of American government, incited by a defeated president amid a last-ditch effort to thwart the transfer of power to his successor — was horrifying but that it is in the past and that we as a nation have moved on…
In short, the Republic faces an existential threat from a movement that is openly contemptuous of democracy and has shown that it is willing to use violence to achieve its ends. No self-governing society can survive such a threat by denying that it exists.
You’ll get no argument from me that the riots were anything but bad news, but every day is not January 6. That’s hysteria and the media is inviting more of it.

Democrats oppose democracy.
Everybody should be, even those with whom we disagree on everything else.
Bingo! Personally, I could shive a git about their so called “democracy”. Democracies SUCK!! Mob rule. I prefer a REPUBLIC!!! Democracies are for children. Republics are for ADULTS.

Be careful when you say that the RATs are losing, The RATs know how to fight and are willing to spill blood — something the pubbies know nothing about.
They are losing? People need to get a grip. Democrats are getting a;most everything they want. People can’t even publicly object to their issues.
I wouldn’t bet on it. The RATS will control fraudulent elections while nary a word from Republicans. The will play the omni virus to the hilt, mail in ballots. Don’t count the chickens before they hatch.
Democracy is not in crisis just because Democrats are losing

Quite the opposite: Democracy will continue to be in increasing crisis until the Democrats cease to exist. And the sooner they cease to exist the more secure our Democracy will be!
In our constitutional REPUBLIC, I would hope we are “openly contemptuous of democracy”.

Republican-Democrat UNIPARTY is why, after the stolen election, I re-registered as an Independent. Trump should have established a genuine SECOND political party for his 80+ million voters. He didn’t and if he runs in 2024 he’ll have his own Party working to see him defeated. Pitiful!
