Reason why Rand and people like him can’t abandon all big tech and isn’t completely leaving youtube is because he has to have some way to reach the general population.
These big tech websites have become the town square. Telling people like Rand and businesses to simply stop being part of the problem, it’s so easy, leave, means you don’t understand the problem. Just get off is like telling people not use the newspaper in the 1800s or banning the telephone.
And these websites and personalities that have moved on have not gotten away from big tech either. Getter uses Google aka YouTube, Apple, Twitter. Talk radio hosts get off Twitter but sells on Amazon. Rumble is on Google, Apple and uses Twitter. You have to use Big Tech to be successful. If you’re not successful and just a person in your underwear blogging from your mom’s basement you’re giving money to Google or Apple somewhere too.
If you’re not comply off Big Tech you’re not a failure or contributing to be a second class citizen. It’s going to be a long process.
This has been part of my argument that these are NOT simply private business decisions but rather may slam quite squarely into the First Amendment. While 1A was aimed at government, all of the amendments can be enforced against private concerns acting in concert with or as agents of government.
AGREE re: modern day town square.
BTW, I use twitter for reasons that I need to as I write a newsletter and it’s still huge traffic wise .
They’re the daddy unfortunately especially as I dont use FB, Insta or Commie TikTok.
I don’t do politics or get into discussions but did create another account just for that.
Also now on GETTR which is a really good platform to be honest.
Really hope it takes off (I think it will)
