This made me cry!
Mayfield, Kentucky: Mr Joe, 79 years old, lost his entire cattle farm in the tornado. 101 acres. Completely torn apart. His cattle gone too. This was the only way he made his money to support his family.
This was his whole life. Since he was 9 years old. This is all he dreamt of doing. Now it’s his dream to rebuild again. How do you even know where or how to start. Especially at 79 years old. With no gofundme. Nothing.
But, with a special donation from @punchdenergy,@jrspine, & @john_chiorando. Folks were able to gift Mr Joe $25,000 so he can rebuild his dream again.
Rebuild his farm.
This really meant a lot to Mr Joe. Y’all brought hope back to his life. And that wasn’t the only surprise. When we were talking. Joe told me that it was him and his wife’s 60th wedding anniversary. So we surprised them with a romantic dinner with their family to celebrate.
Didn’t he have insurance?
Not certain but I doubt insurance covers fencing, old barns and cattle from tornado damage. And if it does it probably is prohibitively expensive.
Does insurance cover tornados or wind damage? There has to be fine print. I seriously doubt that there is such coverage.
“I would tell them to keep God by their side daily, he will never leave your side.”
Thank God he survived. Who do we thank for the tornado?
Most Farmowners policies would cover tornado or wind subject to a deductible. I wonder whether the buildings and cattle were uninsured,
I don't know whether this farmer had insurance and whether farm insurance covers livestock, barns and equipment. My grandfather used to sell hail insurance for crops, so that must not be covered by general insurance.
At age 79, he was still supporting his family?
I’m hoping that’s just the mindset of a strong and noble mind, vs the way it actually was.
For most people, age 79 is no time to be starting anything other than something around the house. But just maybe,
Mr. Joe is not ‘most people’.
Nationwide:
Farm property insurance helps protect the extra important things on your farm, such as:
Your home and its contents
Your farm machinery and equipment
The products you produce
Your barn and other farm structures
Things that make your farm your far
Does insurance cover tornados or wind damage?
I seriously doubt that there is such coverage.

Why don’t you check the internet and see what it says?
In PA, many farmers cannot afford to carry insurance.
Like I said, if so, probably prohibitively expensive.
“Like I said, if so, probably prohibitively expensive.”
Obviously not since a lot of farmers are buying it.
Cattle farm.
I’ve never heard that term.
All that hot/stinking air coming out of DC and hitting a cold front!
So DEMOCRATS!
Why would you thank anyone for a tornado?
Just a smaller version of cattle ranch.
I think it is a separate insurance-—like Earthquake insurance.
“Does insurance cover tornados or wind damage? There has to be fine print. I seriously doubt that there is such coverage.”
In hurricane areas if you have a mortgage you will have hurricane, wind, and hail coverage, sometimes separate from a normal policy. My normal policy is about $400 a year, my wind and hail is $500 a year.
