He was always going to negotiate. The problem for the Dems is that it was felt that the deal on the table was as far as the House left wing was going to go before they would not vote for it.

Sooooo, you get Manchin with concessions. But you lose the AOC crowd. Otherwise, the Dems would not have thrown the fit that they did when he torpedoed it before the New Year. They knew that unless he accepted their version it would be an impossible sell on the other side.

The Senate could pass Manchin (and Sinema)’s bill but like you said, the Squad won’t approve the bill, so it’s dead. The squad think that they’ve already made enough concessions because they’ve voted on the infrastructure bill first.

That was always gaslighting BS. IF the Dems don’t come up with some kind of green new deal the left wing will stay home in the midterms. Everybody Dem knows that and they are all playing their usual beltway theater roles.
