Around the summer of 2018 or so I was enjoying a nice lunch alone in a Canadian spa (after having a nice massage, facial, etc). I overheard two worried Canadians at another table FRETTING about Trump and going on and on about his trade deals and tariffs with Canada, how he wasn’t a reliable trade partner and on and on. It was the funniest thing. Trump REALLY got into the Canadian’s heads; they obsessed about him.
And here I was the actual Trump voter, enjoying Canada, relaxing, not worried about a thing, and comfortable knowing Trump respected Canada but was putting my interests first as a US Citizen. Imagine that.

To characterize dictatorships you have generally military, socialist/Communist, and royal. There is not really a “right wing dictatorship.” Putin has a veneer of being a right wing dictator but his KGB background fuzzes that. Pinochet has been the only conservative (as we define conservative here) dictator I can think of and he stepped down when the Pope told him it was time to go He left an economy and freedoms that later socialist rulers have not been able to efface, at least not yet.
