What the US President SHOULD do is offer Ukraine any and all intelligence and military equipment NOW.
What u.s should do is say, Ukraine, learn to get along with Russia because you can’t move. The U.S and NATO is not responsible for Ukraine. If Ukraine wants to keep Russia on its toes by threatening to join NATO every other weekend then deal with the consequences. You need to learn how to co exist with your neoghboring countries. Same goes for Russia but they aren’t the ones asking for military aid.
WHY? What exactly is our interest in this?
