A much more sensible transition from internal combustion to all-electric would start with using hybrids, like the 2014 Ford Fusion I used to have as the transition step until :

1. The all-electric technology gets past the point where your expensive EV sets the garage on fire,

2, The reload is 20 minutes or less, for a price lower than fossil fuels, and

3. Governments figure out how to replace the loss of gas tax revenue.

Of course, that migration path does not allow for the rapid change that True Believers and other extreme radicals want, let along corporate profits for the new moguls.

Govt and fossil fuel tax

———

May be off a little but recall here in Fla that is the equivalent of .42 cents a gallon.

When I ask people if they know how much is added for taxes they just shake their heads as they have no clue

Agree that the transition needs to be gradual. The capital investment in the internal combustion engine is enormous. Hundreds of millions of cars, trucks, buses, tractors, etc. along with the logistics to support them like gas stations, parts, etc. And how easy will it be for the Third World to switch to electric vehicles, e.g., Africa? They don't have enough electricity now to support their burgeoning populations.

There is no rationale for rapid change except for the green agenda pushed by rabid ideologues.
