HONG KONG (AP) — Hong Kong police on Thursday formally charged two people from an online pro-democracy news outlet with sedition, a day after the outlet said it would cease operations following a police raid on its office and seven arrests.
National security police said in a statement they had charged two men, aged 34 and 52, with one count each of conspiracy to publish a seditious publication but did not identify the men.
According to local media reports, the two charged are Chung Pui-kuen and Patrick Lam, who were editors at Stand News.
The police also said they would prosecute the company for sedition

No freedoms for you!
Long live Xi!
They hung around too long after the take over of Hong Gong, which is now under China’s Jurisdiction.
Kinda feels like this under the Biden/Obama Administration trying to transform our country while ignoring our constitution and citizens rights. They just mow over it all and do their thing.
China has broken the treaty they signed to take administration of Hong Kong.
Any claim they had to Hong Kong is null and void now.

I guess the UK can head there with their aluminum ships and try to take it back...
“If the people of Taiwan were smart they’d be ****ing bricks right now.”
If they were smarter, they’d be heading for the doors now...although I suspect most countries will treat them like the Democrats (FDR) treated the Jews in the 1930s: “Get lost, go somewhere else” (and so they ended up back in Germany and into the ovens).
Remember this tactic with US liberals calling for everyone at the Capitol on 1/6 to be charged with “sedition.”
“I guess the UK can head there with their aluminum ships and try to take it back...”
They could, but that’s not what it means.
It means Hong Kong is independent and has self determination.
They always did. The UK transfer to Chinese Communist Party was never legal.
“It means Hong Kong is independent and has self determination.”
Then why didn’t they defeat China’s move to take them over in 2020?

You seriously do not know this answer?

I’m trying to figure out where you’re coming from...you seem to imply it could have been stopped. If not UK, or Hong Kongers themselves, then who? Russia? WW3?
“I’m trying to figure out where you’re coming from...you seem to imply it could have been stopped.”
No, not necessarily.
I’m saying it is illegal. They broke the treaty they signed.
Hong Kong with 7.5 million people, no military could not have stopped it. They did all they could do.
The international community may have been able to stop it. Still might but the UN is useless and corrupt.
Yes, it was a pretty lively place but with China now running things it’s not going to be what it was.
I’ve been months now studying about China, it’s History into todays current affairs. You can get a general overview of how and why China does as it does and thinks looking a bit closer at their past.
Especially interesting is realizing where their culture behavior comes from and traditions which spill into this century as well. Even the Chinese in our country.
Ok and agree, definitely illegal...but hopeless for those brave people. China’s now too big for the world to team up against them...which is why they don’t worry about it anymore.
