So? This keeps the marijuana full of pesticides and it keeps these industrious small business people running their business in the states National and State Parks.

Nobody wants to smoke government dope.

True in Canada, true in California and everywhere else.

I always said the government wouldn’t be able to resist the impulse to tax it so heavily they would ensure that a black market would thrive. Ya gotta love California!

> extremely high taxes and oppressive regulations have caused the rollout to be a disaster <

Everything today’s liberals roll out is a disaster. Everything.

(Note that I said “today’s liberals” there. Classical liberals had some really good ideas. Unfortunately, there are no classical liberals left.)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Libertarian utopia didn’t happen when drugs were legalized.

Now they’re changing their story.

Can the local crime organizations undercutting the state growers compete with the nearly pure THC in the concentrates? Worst of both worlds, cheap, no quality control pot and expensive legal concentrates that are turning young people into very ill zombies.

There is an old rule of taxation that even the dumbest politicians used to know:

“Pigs get fat but hogs get slaughtered.”

Libertarians oppose high taxes and regulations.

So how are they responsible?

If I start producing moonshine and selling it what happens? I’m sure I’d be visited by a representative of the federal government, a revenuer! My solution to rid California of illegal dope. Put a federal tax on it. One thing you do not get away with, stiffing DC out of their taxes.

these taxes are chump change compared to the other (illegal) payoffs
that legal MJ growers/sellers need to make

I bought some THC gummies when I was out there. They were cheap. But the ‘high’ was horrible. Marijuana is a curse on young people

Cops won't touch most illegal grows in the forests.

Too well defended and too remote.

Not worth their risk.

They complained about marijuana possession and penalties associated with it. Now that it’s legal, the penalty for avoiding taxes will likely be far harsher than any punishment previously doled out when it was illegal

“Libertarians oppose high taxes and regulations”.

Pretty much true; but it was also Libertarians who pushed the hardest for legalized pot in California.

In order to get their measures on the ballot they needed a whole lot of politicians who would support it, so they helped to elect a lot of Democrats.

Most Dem pols were all for legalizing dope here in my state, they just don’t tell the IDIOT VOTERS that once it’s legal they WILL TAX AND REGULATE THE HELL OUT OF IT!

You always get what you vote for!
