If you're not familiar with Daniel Greenfield, who writes at FrontPage Magazine and at his own site, I am not exaggerating when I say you're missing one of the most astute thinkers on the internet. Most recently, he's turned his gimlet eye on the terrible effect on China of the one-child policy, when combined with urban affluence and nascent feminism.
I've long known that China's one-child policy, which resulted in the abortion of up to 40 million female babies, was going to have far-reaching consequences. My assumption was that women would become more valuable and be better treated, but I didn't realize that their increased value might spell the beginning of the end of the Communist Party.
Greenfield, however, suggests that the massive demographic imbalance, with men far outnumbering women, paired with a rising yuppie class that's materialistic and creates women who have no interest in marriage and children, is causing a slo-mo collapse in China. This is true despite Xi Jinping's bluster and military expenditures.

As was obvious all along, the absence of women means they're at a premium in the marriage market. In rural China, only the richest men can afford a wife.
However, that's not the real problem:

Here’s the other factor:
Women, especially, don’t want to be sacrificed to marriage or children. The birth rate is 1.3%, leading China, a nation of over a billion people, to add only 12 million babies in 2020 — and China, unlike Western countries, isn’t getting immigration to augment its declining population.
Well, one way to reduce a surplus male population - and distract the masses at the same time - is to start a war. But if you start a war, you’d better win it.

1.3% is the official government number, the number estimated by Demographic experts not in China is 0.9%

I am 100% against illegals but the huge increase of people into this country has kept our housing market strong and vibrant.

One thing liberals don’t understand is that conservatives are not against immigration. We are against illegal immigration. We want immigrants to come into this country in an orderly, vetted, and legal way.
Wars are never popular when you have the twin prospect of rising feminism and rising materialism.

This article is bogus. I have it on the good authority of multiple posters here that the oh so clever Chinese leaders think centuries ahead while we poor Americans stumble to our demise.
Chinese population trajectory was already known 20 years ago, but its gotten worse over that time.
For example, China announced last month that the number of marriages in China in 2020 is the lowest since they’ve kept records. Covid is merely making existing trends even worse.
Their government-enforced 1-child policy was already “dead” by the late 90s - by that time, few women, rural and especially urban, wanted more than one child, due to high costs, focus on material success, etc...
Take away the extreme government mandates, and immigration (which they don’t have) and the USA is on the same curve, although perhaps not as steeply downward
- materialist society / death of religion and spirituality
- “extra/unnecessary” men
- abortion on demand
- female control over reproduction
- high debt load on people and society
- high costs, especially for urban living
- skewed incomes, middle class being squeezed badly
Same in Japan and EU too.
I have read elsewhere that the male majority, being all only children, is self absorbed, spoiled and has an over blown sense of entitlement. They may not be as willing to charge enemy machine guns as their predecessors were. The People’s Liberation Army isn’t what it used to be.
I have seen that video. Why are those Chinese soldiers crying? Is it out of fear, or because of some weird patriotic fervor? I can’t believe the ChiComs would let a video of frightened soldiers be taken, and then distributed.

If a few million Chinese guys just start identifying as women this problem should go away. That’s all it takes, right? Just claim to be a woman? Perhaps they should all just go gay. Then maybe all the other queers will flock there. This is actually hilarious. I’m quite sure the CCP could (and would) mandate one’s gender identity.
Any article that describes Holy Matrimony and child bearing as a sacrifice does not deserve serious consideration.
