If it were up to me I might move the voting age up to 25 or 30. Once you've had a few years in the workforce to see how things really work (or don't). By then you've had a few years as an adult, on your own. How many 25 or 30 year olds have the same priorities they had at 16 or 17? Who do we want influencing decisions for the entire country?

The Founders set the minimum age for representatives at 25 and senators at 30. The Founders were wise people. And you just might be too!
The only exception would be jobs (like my twice a year government job) which pay less than $1000 annually.
I’ve been a proponent of raising the voting age for years. At least until they are no longer eligible to be on their parent’s insurance.
I would go with whoever is self supporting without government assistance.
If you are an independent 17 year old electrician apprentice, you get to vote.
If you are a 30 year old on welfare, you don’t.
I was going to suggest 30. It seems absurd but the lack of civics education in public schools, the 20 year war on boys, (toxic masculinity, ADHD, etc), and the lack of maturity I think it makes as much sense as giving 16 year olds the right to vote.
“If it were up to me I might move the voting age up to 25 or 30.”
Me too.
Senators: minimum age: 30, 9 years a citizen
House of Representatives age: 25, 7 years a citizen
“How many 25 or 30 year olds have the same priorities they had at 16 or 17?”
Unfortunately, many of today’s 25 year olds are the equivalent of 15 year olds a couple decades ago.
Make it 35. It isn’t until people have had a few job losses, kids, a mortgage and health problems that they begin to understand.
