I am in a meeting held by a local right-wing mom’s group. It’s an organization catering to mothers who are bent on protesting at school board meetings to stop the supposedly evil critical race theory agenda from being taught in public schools and address other typically conservative concerns.

Consider the number of things that are supposed to “frighten” us, if one accepts the media today. Almost all are invisible. One cannot actually see a frightening “right wing,” or “systemic racism,” or even “asymptomatic” illness. Boogeymen aplenty infect those so frightened, in a season which supposedly says “fear not.”
