It isn’t compassionate to tell mentally ill people that there’s nothing wrong with them.
Someone once compared transgenders to people with anorexia. Would a compassionate person tell an anorexic that she is in fact really too fat? Encourage her to lose weight? Binge and purge? Advocate for her to get her stomach stapled?
