Are either of those true? If so, what has the “healthcare system” been doing for the last two years? Why isn't it ready?
“If so, what has the “healthcare system” been doing for the last two years? Why isn’t it ready?”
An excellent question I was asking a year ago. What’s been done about it?
It’s not a trivial thing to simply ramp up medical services.
It takes close to 4 years to even become a nurse. Doctor is nearly a decade.
Many healthcare workers quit or died during the pandemic. There are fewer new people willing to study and do these jobs since the pressure has increased dramatically. They hear the horror stories from people doing it now and quit studying.
Increasing pay has diminishing returns since most people cannot handle the pressure nomatter the pay. It takes a certain type of person to do the job well and they are rare.
Capacity will not improve any time soon so we need to ALL help relive the pressure on hospitals...
