President Joe Biden announced Friday he will lift travel restrictions on eight African countries on December 31, attributing the decision to the fact that restricting international travel will not greatly affect the Wuhan coronavirus Omicron variant’s spread in the United States.
While Biden imposed the omicron-related travel restrictions in late November after criticizing former President Trump as racist for doing so in 2020, Biden will reportedly retract the flight restrictions nearly one month later.

I have wargamed this problem several times in mid-level exercises (never been invited to the Pentagon or the White House).
The problem that comes up over and over again is that necessary travel restrictions (area quarantine) will not be imposed by Western politicians until there is PROOF that they are necessary, and PROOF = pandemic disease spreading in your own population - by which time, of course, they don’t matter.
Take Delta (now almost over) as an example. Delta could have EASILY been contained in India, and it probably should have been.
But the action item was for the UK, France, and the USA to announce that all Indian airports were closed and that outbound ship traffic was prohibited for 90 days, and that the Fifth Fleet and the Royal Navy had been ordered to sail for the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea to enforce the quarantine, and that lethal force would be used, including shooting down the first passenger airliner to take off from India without warning, AND THEN TO DO IT.
Does anyone believe that such a thing could be possible in our world?
Kinda hard to make the case with our southern border wide open.
Again proves how unserious they are about stopping this pandemic vs trying to enforce totalitarian control over us.
