Yes, and he is continuing the USSR tradition of using America's idiotic policies against us. In the 50's and 60's it was racism and segregation. Today, it is the tyranny agenda. The problem is he is right. But it still is no basis to accept Russian authoritarianism or hegemony over its neighbors.
The Tsars were every bit as authoritarian and expansionist as the current Russian government, yet we had cordial relations with them, even made the deal with them to get Alaska.
