The jurors have found Kim Potter, the former Brooklyn Center police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright, guilty on counts of both first- and second-degree manslaughter.
The jury had deliberated for approximately 28 hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Late Tuesday, they asked Judge Regina Chu what they should do if they could not arrive at a verdict. Speaking with the jurors, Chu told them they needed to continue with deliberations with open minds and a willingness to listen to each other’s viewpoints.

Yep, his bond on an earlier felony was revoked because he was in possession of a firearm. He was a fugitive, and would have gone to jail, no getting out, after this stop. Which is, of course, why he resisted. Like all of them. His future victims should thank ofc potter.
Really? Invariably, these people resist, fight and flee because they’re either out on bond, on probation, or on parole, and would be doing real time as a result of the LE interaction. This wouldn’t happen if the courts didn’t release violent criminals back into civilization.
Just wait - it is going to get a lot worse - Illinois removed all immunity form Police Officers this year in a Bill signed by Governor Putzker.
And that is being lost here. Usually, one is responsible for anything that happens as a result of one's breaking the law. The deceased tried to resist arrest, and started a chain of events that resulted in him getting killed. His action was deliberate, Kim's was not. It is primarily his responsibilty for these events.
Also, there will be a BIG payday for the family of this scumbag.
Yep.
What concerns me is was she fast tracked because that police dept. Needed x # of females to be PC? If that’s the case this is a good example of what happens when you hire “so many from each group” instead of best qualified to actually do the job.
Was she truly qualified to do the job she was doing?
I’ve always had a bit if a problem with females as cops on patrol.....inevitably it’s gonna come down to physical strength in that job at one time or another.
I’ve seen stories in the past about female cops getting beat within an inch of their lives because they were patrolling alone and crossed paths with a thug and the female couldn’t handle it physically.
Serving on my church prison ministry I see female guards right there in the yard with as many as 30 inmates with nothing to protect them but a Radio and a can of mace.
I’m always surprised nothing has ever happened......yet.
Are you serious? ALL of this is on the damn thug who fought the cops, he SHOULD have had his head blown off. I’m sorry, but when a perp resists arrest that cops life is put in danger and that cop should have a RIGHT to take lethal action. How do you know the person resisting doesn’t pull a knife or gun next and kill the cop? This 100% political and just to prove it, watch what will happen to Alec Baldwin for doing the same thing: NOTHING.
Interestingly enough there are at least three lawsuits filed against Wright's estate by people he committed crimes against in the time leading up to his death.
“I’ve seen stories in the past about female cops getting beat within an inch of their lives because they were patrolling alone and crossed paths with a thug and the female couldn’t handle it physically.”
Happened to a cousin of mine. She was a cop in California and was mauled by a perp pretty badly. She quit the force not long afterwards.
If this happened at the capital building, and even if the guy didn’t revisit, I guess she would have walked?
Not only that but they would have given her an award and treated her like a hero?
If this happened at the capital building, and even if the guy didn’t RECISTED, I guess she would have walked?
Not only that but they would have given her an award and treated her like a hero?
Now yer talking!
Hate to hear that. Hope she’s OK.
Just some jobs are for men....just like some jobs are better suited for women.
(Standing by for accusations of Misogyny and sexism)
“I wonder if the judge has the power - and the guts - to throw that conviction out”
I believe the governor can pardon....that is what I heard on fox anyway......so I could be wrong.
“The New York Department of Corrections and Community Supervision reported that Jeter was released on parole on December 7th, making him the 23rd convicted cop killer released by the New York State Board of Parole.”
Maybe since her “crime” was committed in NY they will grant her clemency ... oh wait .... wrong color
Agreed. This woman was a clear diversity hire and incapable of police work.
ALL of the actions that transpired resulting in his death WAS his fault…
this person was a rotten cop
she was involved in a different police-killing
where she ordered other cops
turn off their body-cams
It’s called “proximate cause,” and is a simple, well-established concept. Wright’s death is a direct and predictable result of his own actions, made all the more understandable by his legal status at the time of the incident.
Really? Lol, that funny. The Litigation Lottery reaches new depths of absurdity. I wonder if English Common law has anything to figure out who is entitled to the taxpayer’s money in this case. Doesn’t matter, it will go to lawyers; the rest will be missed away on nails and hair extensions.
This is, of course, a case of offering up a sacrificial lamb to appease those who would destroy their city.
This nonsense will continue until something breaks.
