The pre Covid life expectancy of South Africa was 64.8 years. Why SA continually gets talked about is hard to understand. They are all dead before the virus can get them. 80% of Covid deaths since day 1 have been 65+. The remaining 20% concentrated 60+. Celebrating a young population’s survival is just bizarre. They were surviving all along.

What is bizarre is that you don't understand that a shorter life expectancy means that they are less healthy and more fragile at a younger age.

Nope. There is a way to measure that. It’s called HALE.

It’s the healthy life expectancy. Health Adjusted Life Expectancy. Meaning, how long prior to death is health deteriorating or disability arriving.

The US has a conventional LE of about 78. HALE is 66. A difference of 12 yrs. The last 12 yrs are not totally comfortable.

South Africa has a HALE of 56.2 and conventional LE of 64.8. Difference is only 8 yrs. They are less fragile than the US, as of course they would be at a younger age.
