It sounds like you are living the dream.
My immediate family have all passed on. My last sibling died in 2014. I have my two sons, and my brother's family...and a few friends I rarely see. Been retired since 2003, and am a loner. Love my privacy, and solitude. The best thing about living alone, is buying a food item you crave, and it still being in the fridge when you go to get it. I always cook a turkey breast and a standing rib roast when my one son comes for Christmas. I make Christmas cookies from scratch for him, and send all the leftovers home with him. That way he doesn't have to shop or cook for himself the week after. At 74, I'm glad I only have to cook big meals twice a year.
