Question -- how does a test differentiate between Omicron and other variants? Do they do this test for every hospitalized patients and/or Covid positive patients today?

They use genomic sequencing.

There are two ways.

The gold standard, far more time consuming and expensive, not to mention accurate, is genomic testing.

The other way is to take a WAG based on PCR results.

Guess which method is in use?

Omicron blast through vaccines,period. Does not infect lungs,you get scratchy throat runny nose and tired.
