There’s not much covid in Africa because the population is young except for South Africa which is the most developed country on the continent and that is where omicron is originated. India is pretty much done with covid because they developed herd immunity after the delta wave earlier this year and as a percent of the population, elderly makes up a small chunk, so that was that.

It’s not a % of population thing for India. Perhaps at most indirectly. The situation of India is life expectancy is so short people are dead before the virus can get them.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with herd immunity (that Omicron defeats regardless). It’s just that they die so young normally (LE 70) that there are no virus targets.
